Forward - Westward 2001

This web site is a photographic and written record of a recent trip by Paul & Jean Galburt and Bill & Carol Heimann. We toured parts of the Northwestern United States over a 2 week period in September. The Galburt's started the trip a bit earlier and returned home a bit later then the Heimann's.

We (Galburt's) brought along our new Olympus C2100-UZ digital camera that we used to take about 250 pictures. This camera performed wonderfully. The 128 MB smart media cards we used allowed for more than 100 high resolution images before reloading and the 10X zoom optical steady-shot lens allowed only 3 blurred images out of the whole lot.

In addition to the photographs, you will find pages of notes written almost entirely by Bill Heimann. During the trip we had many discussions amongst ourselves on diverse topics, as well as talks with interesting local people along the way. Bill chronicled many of these and I have inserted them in the days he indicated.

The following icon in the main picture menu denotes each of these written note pages.

The tragic events in New York and Washington did cast a mighty shadow on our feelings and enjoyment. They also affected our travel plans - we all drove home rather than completing our round trip plane flights. This seemed a pretty small price compared to that paid by many others.

All this said, we had a great time and we hope you (vicariously) enjoy our journey.
