 The TrawlerCat is fitted with two modern, high speed diesel engines made by Yanmar of Japan. These machines are small, efficient, and develop plenty of power. The low cruise speed we observed is about 8 knots at 2200 RPM and high cruise is about 14 knots at 3200 RPM where the engines are rated for continuous operation. Firewall the throttles and Sea dancer is going about 17-18 knots at 3700 rpm. The propellers are driven through 2:1 reduction gears in the transmissions. Quite a change from the old days of low RPM behemoths.

Of course you can toodle along at 6-7 knots at RPMs in the "old" trawler range, it's just the the cat seems to want to go.

These babies live under the rear beds, so you won't sleep much there under full power.
