Trial Dancing of Step 1

Here’s your opportunity to actually dance all the 8 sequences in Step 1. This page allows you to use Real Audio to listen to and dance to all of the tracks from Step 1.

While Mini-Squares was specifically designed for 4 people, 2 of whom would be current square dancers and 2 who are new to the activity, that specific configuration isn’t necessary. If you don’t know anything about square dancing, and are adventurous and like a challenge, you should be able to follow the instructions below and successfully dance the sequences.

Here are some suggestions for preparing to dance the sequences.

It’s a good idea to review the "Using the CD" and "Call Definitions" pages in the Mini-Squares Site Navigator above, whether or not you already know how to square dance. It contains instructions and helpful suggestions. You may want to print the page for reference.
There are only 4 calls used in the 8 sequences of Step 1: Quarter In or Out, Partner Trade, Pass Thru, and Square Thru.
You can click on "Call Animations" above and see animated figures demonstrate one of the calls.
Once you’re square-up with 4 people, click on one of the players below to begin the sequence. We recommend dancing the sequences in order.
