Some Comments About Monster
A2
This CD is a complete dance consisting of challenging A2 all-position choreography called with energy at a snappy pace.
A New Approach to An Advanced Dance
While all of the material is taken from the Advanced, Plus, and Mainstream lists and no higher level most people will find the sequences to be quite challenging when compared to most Advanced dances. The reasons for this are:
There are very few cues from the caller.
The material is called at a snappy pace to provide a "wind-in-your-face" experience. (Many think a dance gains a certain energy when its called with few stops and pauses.)
So, this dance isnt "your fathers Advanced dance". This is a new, different, exciting experience.
It's a new approach to workshopping and a new dancing experience that might suggest a different approach to utilizing it in your workshop. Here are two ideas to consider:
So, if youre an Advanced dancer with friends at these higher levels, you can invite them to workshop with you without feeling youre imposing on them. Conversely, if youre a challenge dancer with friends at the Advanced level, you can get together with them for an evening that will be enjoyable to all of you.
We suggest you devote a segment of your workshop to play this CD and suggest to your fellow workshoppers that they attempt to keep dancing and concentrate on their reaction time. Alert everyone before hand that you dont intend to stop the CD as often as usual. You might want to try playing a couple of sequences without stopping, then resetting the CD and replay those same sequences, perhaps stirring the bucket in the process.
Dont let your workshop fall into the trap of stopping the CD so often. Someone once said, "Most workshops practice stopping, they dont practice dancing". This CD can help you and your workshop avoid that trap, and it can be a very refreshing, educational experience as well.
Of course, how you use this CD is entirely up to you. We thought you might appreciate considering something new.
